Changes just starting to traffic flow on Wrights Lane signal the start of the development of the Boots site at 127 Kensington High Street – and will last for around two years. The Demolition Traffic Management Plan will provide restrictions to traffic on Wrights Lane 9.30 to 4.30 Monday to Friday each week and there will be no left turn out of Iverna Court.
The demolition of the site will see the start of a scheme that has been in the planning stage for several years. The aim of the development is to remodel the existing 1970s building with ‘an appropriate architectural response to this prominent site on Kensington High Street’. There will also be ‘next generation office connectivity to Kensington High Street underground station arcade’.
The traffic plan is a complex one created by the developers and the Highways Department for RBKC. ESSA (Edwardes Square, Scarsdale and Abingdon Associaton – the conservation organisation) is keeping a close eye on the management of the scheme and would welcome any comments on the impact to atessaW8@gmail.com.
